Enjoy Therapeutic Horsemanship on the Big Island of Hawaii!

Kona Horsemanship ProgramFor those on the Big Island, Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii has opened a program in Kona!

The THH-Kona program is coordinated by Nancy Bloomfield, a registered physical therapist. We have two experienced riding instructors and a wonderful group of volunteer helpers. The program operates on Sundays at Horseplay Equestrian Center. Located in Honalo, about eight miles south of Kailua-Kona town, Horseplay is a professional riding academy and horse boarding facility. We are completely accessible and have a wheelchair mounting ramp for those who are unable to mount from the ground.

The success of our program is due to our dedicated staff, volunteers and especially our horses. We are fortunate to have the use of four responsive horses and two gentle ponies to help our riders learn riding skills. Students also enjoy additional benefits, including improving their balance and strength, building their self confidence, and learning to care for and respect these amazing, special animals. Our caring volunteers help our riders to mount and dismount, as well as assisting with leading, sidewalking, and teaching riding skills.

Come join us to see how therapeutic riding can benefit you. We are currently operating on a schedule of six-week sessions.
